OUR FUTURE

csr-pledges-sb.jpg

Here at Toby, we are always looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of our restaurants. We're making small changes every-day, to make a long-lasting impact on the planet.

Here’s how our parent company, Mitchells & Butlers, is doing its bit to help:

Net Zero emissions by 2040

Zero operational waste to landfill by 2030

50% reduction in food waste by 2030

We are determined to put the same level of passion and care into these goals as we do into every single ruffled roastie.

Printing is an essential aspect of running a business in hospitality, whether it be our range of menus, posters or simply office paper. We understand the effect that printing can have on the environment, that’s why we have partnered with ITG to make sure we consider ever aspect of the supply chain, to limit our impact on the environment. We are pleased to confirm that:

  • Every printer within our supply chain is ISO 14001 certified, minimising their environmental impact

  • We have adopted new stock packaging initiatives to save warehouse space and cut the amount of packaging we use

We’re working with leading surplus food app, Too Good To Go, to fight food waste.
As of February 2022, we have saved 250 tonnes of CO₂e - with over 100,000 Magic Bags.

Leading the food waste movement, Too Good To Go lets people buy surplus food and drink from restaurants, grocery stores, pubs, cafes and producers to stop it from going to waste.

Every single Toby Carvery restaurant across the UK is now signed up, making sure that any remaining food is eaten and enjoyed, not wasted.

So far, over 40,000 Magic Bags of food have been rescued by hungry consumers, saving over 100 tonnes of CO₂e. Join us now and be part of this (tasty) positive change.

We are very proud to be partnered with the NSPCC, the UK’s leading children’s charity.

Our local Toby’s are involved in fundraising activities throughout the year in support of the NSPCC.

We also support hundreds of local charities every year – this year we collected over 1000 easter eggs for local charities and food banks.

We are working hard to reduce the amount of packaging we use and source sustainable options in our delivery and takeaway packaging. For takeaway and Too Good To Go orders, we encourage guests to bring along their own packaging and takeaway bags.

Coated boards (such as our food pots, lids, and cups)

These can still be captured for dry mixed recycling, if free from food waste. Minimising contamination to board recycling is key in maintaining the quality of paper fibres.

Plastics (such as food containers)

Where rigid plastics are used, we have selected materials that are recyclable or have high levels of recycled content. Pots, Tubs, and Trays are currently accepted in kerbside recycling collections by 85% of local authorities.
