Caramelised Onions in Gravy (V)

Ingredients

 4 red or white onions

 500ml vegetarian gravy granules

 100ml rapeseed oil plus extra for sauté

Method
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190C
  2. Generously coat a roasting tray with 100ml of rapeseed oil and heat in the oven for approximately 5 minutes until bubbling
  3. Peel and cut your onions into quarters
  4. Sauté with a teaspoon of rapeseed oil for approximately 5 minutes until soft
  5. Add your onions to the hot oil and ensure that all sides are coated in oil
  6. Roast for 20 minutes until onions are browned and softened
  7. Prepare gravy according to instructions (you can use granules or our homemade gravy recipe)
  8.  Decant the onions into a warmed dish ensuring all excess oil is removed
  9. Cover the onions with the gravy and serve with your roast
